A set of closely related minerals forming the group garnet, garnets come in almost every color. While red garnets are the recognized color of garnets, green garnets (tsavorites/demantoids), orange garnets (spessarite), and purple-red garnet (rhodolite), also have made quite a name for themselves amongst gem lovers worldwide. Perhaps the most rare garnet is the color-changing alexandrite, which changes from a green to red depending on the light. Regardless of color, garnets have adorned the necks of pharaohs and graced the hands of emperors and kings.
